Richmond man wins $100,000 in Cash 5
cash5It took a lot of convincing for Benjamin Venning to accept that he’d won $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game.

“I kept looking at it. I wasn’t sure,” he told Lottery officials as he claimed his prize.

The Richmond man matched all five numbers in the December 13 night drawing to win the game’s top prize. When he bought his ticket,he selected numbers that have no particular significance to him:7-9-12-15-23.He bought the winning ticket at K Food Store,3159 Midlothian Turnpike in Richmond.

His ticket was one of four $100,000 winners in that drawing. Two of the other four were bought in Norfolk and one in Arlington.

Mr. Venning, who is retired, said his winnings will help his family.

Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
