Melvyn Watson of Daleville just found out he won $250,000 in Mega Millions in a drawing that took place three weeks ago. He recently checked many tickets at once and found a hidden gem among them!

On May 30,Mr. Watson received his check from Virginia Lottery officials at the Lottery's Roanoke Valley Customer Service Center in Roanoke.

He bought the winning ticket for the May 7 drawing at Kroger located at 3 Aspen Drive in Daleville. He and his wife chose his numbers for multiple tickets. The numbers she selected won the second prize! The winning numbers were 1-6-13-20-51,Mega Ball 31.

Mr. Watson,a retired banker,plans to use his winnings to help his church and to help family and friends in need. He was one of five second-prize winners nationwide in that drawing,and the only one in Virginia. If he had matched one more number—the Mega Ball number—he would have won a jackpot estimated at $139 million.
