Sharita Whitehead of Dunnsville made a lot of phone calls on December 18, 2007. She just couldn’t wait to tell her family members the big news that she had won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s $100,000 Mega Multiplier game.
“I called my husband and said, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said, ‘Of course I do.’ So I said, ‘Okay, I won $100,000.’ He said, ‘Yeah, right!’”
But it was true. The certified nurse assistant scratched her ticket to find the top prize. She purchased the winning ticket at Dunnsville Texaco, located at the intersection of Highways 17 and 611 in Dunnsville.
$100,000 Mega Multiplier is one of more than 50 Scratcher games offered by the Virginia Lottery. There is one top-prize-winning ticket in the game still out there. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $3.4 billion for Virginia’s public schools, currently representing about 7 percent of annual state funding for public education in Virginia. In 19 years, the Lottery has awarded more than $10 billion in prizes to players and more than $1 billion in retailer commissions.
Please play responsibly.
